3:13 もし、善いことに熱心であるなら、だれがあなたがたに害を加えるでしょう。

3:14 しかし、義のために苦しみを受けるのであれば、幸いです。人々を恐れたり、心を乱したりしてはいけません。

3:15 心の中でキリストを主とあがめなさい。あなたがたの抱いている希望について説明を要求する人には、いつでも弁明できるように備えていなさい。

3:16 それも、穏やかに、敬意をもって、正しい良心で、弁明するようにしなさい。そうすれば、キリストに結ばれたあなたがたの善い生活をののしる者たちは、悪口を言ったことで恥じ入るようになるのです。

3:17 神の御心によるのであれば、善を行って苦しむ方が、悪を行って苦しむよりはよい。

3:18 キリストも、罪のためにただ一度苦しまれました。正しい方が、正しくない者たちのために苦しまれたのです。あなたがたを神のもとへ導くためです。キリストは、肉では死に渡されましたが、霊では生きる者とされたのです。

3:19 そして、霊においてキリストは、捕らわれていた霊たちのところへ行って宣教されました。

3:20 この霊たちは、ノアの時代に箱舟が作られていた間、神が忍耐して待っておられたのに従わなかった者です。この箱舟に乗り込んだ数人、すなわち八人だけが水の中を通って救われました。

3:21 この水で前もって表された洗礼は、今やイエス・キリストの復活によってあなたがたをも救うのです。洗礼は、肉の汚れを取り除くことではなくて、神に正しい良心を願い求めることです。

3:22 キリストは、天に上って神の右におられます。天使、また権威や勢力は、キリストの支配に服しているのです。

ＴＥＶ Ⅰペテ3:13-22

3:13 Who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good?

3:14 But even if you should suffer for doing what is right, how happy you are! Do not be afraid of anyone, and do not worry.

3:15 But have reverence for Christ in your hearts, and honor him as Lord. Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you,

3:16 but do it with gentleness and respect. Keep your conscience clear, so that when you are insulted, those who speak evil of your good conduct as followers of Christ will become ashamed of what they say.

3:17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if this should be God's will, than for doing evil.

3:18 For Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God. He was put to death physically, but made alive spiritually,

3:19 and in his spiritual existence he went and preached to the imprisoned spirits.

3:20 These were the spirits of those who had not obeyed God when he waited patiently during the days that Noah was building his boat. The few people in the boat-eight in all-were saved by the water,

3:21 which was a symbol pointing to baptism, which now saves you. It is not the washing off of bodily dirt, but the promise made to God from a good conscience. It saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

3:22 who has gone to heaven and is at the right side of God, ruling over all angels and heavenly authorities and powers.
