4:6 言った。「神の子なら、飛び降りたらどうだ。『神があなたのために天使たちに命じると、／あなたの足が石に打ち当たることのないように、／天使たちは手であなたを支える』／と書いてある。」

4:7 イエスは、「『あなたの神である主を試してはならない』とも書いてある」と言われた。

4:8 更に、悪魔はイエスを非常に高い山に連れて行き、世のすべての国々とその繁栄ぶりを見せて、

4:9 「もし、ひれ伏してわたしを拝むなら、これをみんな与えよう」と言った。

4:10 すると、イエスは言われた。「退け、サタン。『あなたの神である主を拝み、／ただ主に仕えよ』／と書いてある。」

4:11 そこで、悪魔は離れ去った。すると、天使たちが来てイエスに仕えた。

◆ガリラヤで伝道を始める

4:12 イエスは、ヨハネが捕らえられたと聞き、ガリラヤに退かれた。

4:5 Then the Devil took Jesus to Jerusalem, the Holy City, set him on the highest point of the Temple,

4:6 and said to him, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down, for the scripture says, /"God will give orders to his angels about you; /they will hold you up with their hands, /so that not even your feet will be hurt on the stones."'

4:7 Jesus answered, "But the scripture also says, "Do not put the Lord your God to the test."'

4:8 Then the Devil took Jesus to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in all their greatness.

4:9 "All this I will give you," the Devil said, "if you kneel down and worship me."

4:10 Then Jesus answered, "Go away, Satan! The scripture says, "Worship the Lord your God and serve only him!"'

4:11 Then the Devil left Jesus; and angels came and helped him.

4:12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went away to Galilee.
