5:21 「あなたがたも聞いているとおり、昔の人は『殺すな。人を殺した者は裁きを受ける』と命じられている。

5:22 しかし、わたしは言っておく。兄弟に腹を立てる者はだれでも裁きを受ける。兄弟に『ばか』と言う者は、最高法院に引き渡され、『愚か者』と言う者は、火の地獄に投げ込まれる。

5:23 だから、あなたが祭壇に供え物を献げようとし、兄弟が自分に反感を持っているのをそこで思い出したなら、

5:24 その供え物を祭壇の前に置き、まず行って兄弟と仲直りをし、それから帰って来て、供え物を献げなさい。

5:25 あなたを訴える人と一緒に道を行く場合、途中で早く和解しなさい。さもないと、その人はあなたを裁判官に引き渡し、裁判官は下役に引き渡し、あなたは牢に投げ込まれるにちがいない。

5:26 はっきり言っておく。最後の一クァドランスを返すまで、決してそこから出ることはできない。」

5:21 "You have heard that people were told in the past, "Do not commit murder; anyone who does will be brought to trial.'

5:22 But now I tell you: if you are angry with your brother you will be brought to trial, if you call your brother "You good-for-nothing!' you will be brought before the Council, and if you call your brother a worthless fool you will be in danger of going to the fire of hell.

5:23 So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you,

5:24 leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.

5:25 "If someone brings a lawsuit against you and takes you to court, settle the dispute while there is time, before you get to court. Once you are there, you will be turned over to the judge, who will hand you over to the police, and you will be put in jail.

5:26 There you will stay, I tell you, until you pay the last penny of your fine.
