8:28 イエスが向こう岸のガダラ人の地方に着かれると、悪霊に取りつかれた者が二人、墓場から出てイエスのところにやって来た。二人は非常に狂暴で、だれもその辺りの道を通れないほどであった。

8:29 突然、彼らは叫んだ。「神の子、かまわないでくれ。まだ、その時ではないのにここに来て、我々を苦しめるのか。」

8:30 はるかかなたで多くの豚の群れがえさをあさっていた。

8:31 そこで、悪霊どもはイエスに、「我々を追い出すのなら、あの豚の中にやってくれ」と願った。

8:32 イエスが、「行け」と言われると、悪霊どもは二人から出て、豚の中に入った。すると、豚の群れはみな崖を下って湖になだれ込み、水の中で死んだ。

8:33 豚飼いたちは逃げ出し、町に行って、悪霊に取りつかれた者のことなど一切を知らせた。

8:34 すると、町中の者がイエスに会おうとしてやって来た。そして、イエスを見ると、その地方から出て行ってもらいたいと言った。

8:28 When Jesus came to the territory of Gadara on the other side of the lake, he was met by two men who came out of the burial caves there. These men had demons in them and were so fierce that no one dared travel on that road.

8:29 At once they screamed, "What do you want with us, you Son of God? Have you come to punish us before the right time?"

8:30 Not far away there was a large herd of pigs feeding.

8:31 So the demons begged Jesus, "If you are going to drive us out, send us into that herd of pigs."

8:32 "Go," Jesus told them; so they left and went off into the pigs. The whole herd rushed down the side of the cliff into the lake and was drowned.

8:33 The men who had been taking care of the pigs ran away and went into the town, where they told the whole story and what had happened to the men with the demons.

8:34 So everyone from the town went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their territory.
