9:14 そのころ、ヨハネの弟子たちがイエスのところに来て、「わたしたちとファリサイ派の人々はよく断食しているのに、なぜ、あなたの弟子たちは断食しないのですか」と言った。

9:15 イエスは言われた。「花婿が一緒にいる間、婚礼の客は悲しむことができるだろうか。しかし、花婿が奪い取られる時が来る。そのとき、彼らは断食することになる。

9:16 だれも、織りたての布から布切れを取って、古い服に継ぎを当てたりはしない。新しい布切れが服を引き裂き、破れはいっそうひどくなるからだ。

9:17 新しいぶどう酒を古い革袋に入れる者はいない。そんなことをすれば、革袋は破れ、ぶどう酒は流れ出て、革袋もだめになる。新しいぶどう酒は、新しい革袋に入れるものだ。そうすれば、両方とも長もちする。」

9:14 Then the followers of John the Baptist came to Jesus, asking, "Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don't fast at all?"

9:15 Jesus answered, "Do you expect the guests at a wedding party to be sad as long as the bridegroom is with them? Of course not! But the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.

9:16 "No one patches up an old coat with a piece of new cloth, for the new patch will shrink and make an even bigger hole in the coat.

9:17 Nor does anyone pour new wine into used wineskins, for the skins will burst, the wine will pour out, and the skins will be ruined. Instead, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins, and both will keep in good condition."
