19:1 イエスはこれらの言葉を語り終えると、ガリラヤを去り、ヨルダン川の向こう側のユダヤ地方に行かれた。

19:2 大勢の群衆が従った。イエスはそこで人々の病気をいやされた。

19:3 ファリサイ派の人々が近寄り、イエスを試そうとして、「何か理由があれば、夫が妻を離縁することは、律法に適っているでしょうか」と言った。

19:4 イエスはお答えになった。「あなたたちは読んだことがないのか。創造主は初めから人を男と女とにお造りになった。」

19:5 そして、こうも言われた。「それゆえ、人は父母を離れてその妻と結ばれ、二人は一体となる。

19:6 だから、二人はもはや別々ではなく、一体である。従って、神が結び合わせてくださったものを、人は離してはならない。」

19:7 すると、彼らはイエスに言った。「では、なぜモーセは、離縁状を渡して離縁するように命じたのですか。」

19:8 イエスは言われた。「あなたたちの心が頑固なので、モーセは妻を離縁することを許したのであって、初めからそうだったわけではない。

19:9 言っておくが、不法な結婚でもないのに妻を離縁して、他の女を妻にする者は、姦通の罪を犯すことになる。」

19:10 弟子たちは、「夫婦の間柄がそんなものなら、妻を迎えない方がましです」と言った。

19:11 イエスは言われた。「だれもがこの言葉を受け入れるのではなく、恵まれた者だけである。

19:12 結婚できないように生まれついた者、人から結婚できないようにされた者もいるが、天の国のために結婚しない者もいる。これを受け入れることのできる人は受け入れなさい。」

◆子供を祝福する

19:13 そのとき、イエスに手を置いて祈っていただくために、人々が子供たちを連れて来た。弟子たちはこの人々を叱った。

19:14 しかし、イエスは言われた。「子供たちを来させなさい。わたしのところに来るのを妨げてはならない。天の国はこのような者たちのものである。」

19:15 そして、子供たちに手を置いてから、そこを立ち去られた。

◆金持ちの青年

19:16 さて、一人の男がイエスに近寄って来て言った。「先生、永遠の命を得るには、どんな善いことをすればよいのでしょうか。」

19:17 イエスは言われた。「なぜ、善いことについて、わたしに尋ねるのか。善い方はおひとりである。もし命を得たいのなら、掟を守りなさい。」

19:18 男が「どの掟ですか」と尋ねると、イエスは言われた。「『殺すな、姦淫するな、盗むな、偽証するな、

19:1 When Jesus finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went to the territory of Judea on the other side of the Jordan River.

19:2 Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.

19:3 Some Pharisees came to him and tried to trap him by asking, "Does our Law allow a man to divorce his wife for whatever reason he wishes?"

19:4 Jesus answered, "Haven't you read the scripture that says that in the beginning the Creator made people male and female?

19:5 And God said, "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one.'

19:6 So they are no longer two, but one. No human being must separate, then, what God has joined together."

19:7 The Pharisees asked him, "Why, then, did Moses give the law for a man to hand his wife a divorce notice and send her away?"

19:8 Jesus answered, "Moses gave you permission to divorce your wives because you are so hard to teach. But it was not like that at the time of creation.

19:9 I tell you, then, that any man who divorces his wife for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, commits adultery if he marries some other woman."

19:10 His disciples said to him, "If this is how it is between a man and his wife, it is better not to marry."

19:11 Jesus answered, "This teaching does not apply to everyone, but only to those to whom God has given it.

19:12 For there are different reasons why men cannot marry: some, because they were born that way; others, because men made them that way; and others do not marry for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Let him who can accept this teaching do so."

19:13 Some people brought children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and to pray for them, but the disciples scolded the people.

19:14 Jesus said, "Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

19:15 He placed his hands on them and then went away.

19:16 Once a man came to Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what good thing must I do to receive eternal life?"

19:17 "Why do you ask me concerning what is good?" answered Jesus. "There is only One who is good. Keep the commandments if you want to enter life."
