17:9 一同が山を下りるとき、イエスは、「人の子が死者の中から復活するまで、今見たことをだれにも話してはならない」と弟子たちに命じられた。

17:10 彼らはイエスに、「なぜ、律法学者は、まずエリヤが来るはずだと言っているのでしょうか」と尋ねた。

17:11 イエスはお答えになった。「確かにエリヤが来て、すべてを元どおりにする。

17:12 言っておくが、エリヤは既に来たのだ。人々は彼を認めず、好きなようにあしらったのである。人の子も、そのように人々から苦しめられることになる。」

17:13 そのとき、弟子たちは、イエスが洗礼者ヨハネのことを言われたのだと悟った。

17:9 As they came down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, "Don't tell anyone about this vision you have seen until the Son of Man has been raised from death."

17:10 Then the disciples asked Jesus, "Why do the teachers of the Law say that Elijah has to come first?"

17:11 "Elijah is indeed coming first," answered Jesus, "and he will get everything ready.

17:12 But I tell you that Elijah has already come and people did not recognize him, but treated him just as they pleased. In the same way they will also mistreat the Son of Man."

17:13 Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist.
