17:24 一行がカファルナウムに来たとき、神殿税を集める者たちがペトロのところに来て、「あなたたちの先生は神殿税を納めないのか」と言った。

17:25 ペトロは、「納めます」と言った。そして家に入ると、イエスの方から言いだされた。「シモン、あなたはどう思うか。地上の王は、税や貢ぎ物をだれから取り立てるのか。自分の子供たちからか、それともほかの人々からか。」

17:26 ペトロが「ほかの人々からです」と答えると、イエスは言われた。「では、子供たちは納めなくてよいわけだ。

17:27 しかし、彼らをつまずかせないようにしよう。湖に行って釣りをしなさい。最初に釣れた魚を取って口を開けると、銀貨が一枚見つかるはずだ。それを取って、わたしとあなたの分として納めなさい。」

17:24 When Jesus and his disciples came to Capernaum, the collectors of the Temple tax came to Peter and asked, "Does your teacher pay the Temple tax?"

17:25 "Of course," Peter answered. /When Peter went into the house, Jesus spoke up first, "Simon, what is your opinion? Who pays duties or taxes to the kings of this world? The citizens of the country or the foreigners?"

17:26 "The foreigners," answered Peter. /"Well, then," replied Jesus, "that means that the citizens don't have to pay.

17:27 But we don't want to offend these people. So go to the lake and drop in a line. Pull up the first fish you hook, and in its mouth you will find a coin worth enough for my Temple tax and yours. Take it and pay them our taxes."
