22:23 その同じ日、復活はないと言っているサドカイ派の人々が、イエスに近寄って来て尋ねた。

22:24 「先生、モーセは言っています。『ある人が子がなくて死んだ場合、その弟は兄嫁と結婚して、兄の跡継ぎをもうけねばならない』と。

22:25 さて、わたしたちのところに、七人の兄弟がいました。長男は妻を迎えましたが死に、跡継ぎがなかったので、その妻を弟に残しました。

22:26 次男も三男も、ついに七人とも同じようになりました。

22:27 最後にその女も死にました。

22:28 すると復活の時、その女は七人のうちのだれの妻になるのでしょうか。皆その女を妻にしたのです。」

22:29 イエスはお答えになった。「あなたたちは聖書も神の力も知らないから、思い違いをしている。

22:30 復活の時には、めとることも嫁ぐこともなく、天使のようになるのだ。

22:31 死者の復活については、神があなたたちに言われた言葉を読んだことがないのか。

22:32 『わたしはアブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である』とあるではないか。神は死んだ者の神ではなく、生きている者の神なのだ。」

22:33 群衆はこれを聞いて、イエスの教えに驚いた。

22:23 That same day some Sadducees came to Jesus and claimed that people will not rise from death.

22:24 "Teacher," they said, "Moses said that if a man who has no children dies, his brother must marry the widow so that they can have children who will be considered the dead man's children.

22:25 Now, there were seven brothers who used to live here. The oldest got married and died without having children, so he left his widow to his brother.

22:26 The same thing happened to the second brother, to the third, and finally to all seven.

22:27 Last of all, the woman died.

22:28 Now, on the day when the dead rise to life, whose wife will she be? All of them had married her."

22:29 Jesus answered them, "How wrong you are! It is because you don't know the Scriptures or God's power.

22:30 For when the dead rise to life, they will be like the angels in heaven and will not marry.

22:31 Now, as for the dead rising to life: haven't you ever read what God has told you? He said,

22:32 "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' He is the God of the living, not of the dead."

22:33 When the crowds heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.
