23:1 それから、イエスは群衆と弟子たちにお話しになった。

23:2 「律法学者たちやファリサイ派の人々は、モーセの座に着いている。

23:3 だから、彼らが言うことは、すべて行い、また守りなさい。しかし、彼らの行いは、見倣ってはならない。言うだけで、実行しないからである。

23:4 彼らは背負いきれない重荷をまとめ、人の肩に載せるが、自分ではそれを動かすために、指一本貸そうともしない。

23:5 そのすることは、すべて人に見せるためである。聖句の入った小箱を大きくしたり、衣服の房を長くしたりする。

23:6 宴会では上座、会堂では上席に座ることを好み、

23:7 また、広場で挨拶されたり、『先生』と呼ばれたりすることを好む。

23:8 だが、あなたがたは『先生』と呼ばれてはならない。あなたがたの師は一人だけで、あとは皆兄弟なのだ。

23:9 また、地上の者を『父』と呼んではならない。あなたがたの父は天の父おひとりだけだ。

23:10 『教師』と呼ばれてもいけない。あなたがたの教師はキリスト一人だけである。

23:11 あなたがたのうちでいちばん偉い人は、仕える者になりなさい。

23:12 だれでも高ぶる者は低くされ、へりくだる者は高められる。

ＴＥＶ マタ 23:1-12

23:1 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples.

23:2 "The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees are the authorized interpreters of Moses' Law.

23:3 So you must obey and follow everything they tell you to do; do not, however, imitate their actions, because they don't practice what they preach.

23:4 They tie onto people's backs loads that are heavy and hard to carry, yet they aren't willing even to lift a finger to help them carry those loads.

23:5 They do everything so that people will see them. Look at the straps with scripture verses on them which they wear on their foreheads and arms, and notice how large they are! Notice also how long are the tassels on their cloaks!

23:6 They love the best places at feasts and the reserved seats in the synagogues;

23:7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to have people call them "Teacher.'

23:8 You must not be called "Teacher,' because you are all equal and have only one Teacher.

23:9 And you must not call anyone here on earth "Father,' because you have only the one Father in heaven.

23:10 Nor should you be called "Leader,' because your one and only leader is the Messiah.

23:11 The greatest one among you must be your servant.

23:12 Whoever makes himself great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be made great.
