1:1 わたしたちの救い主である神とわたしたちの希望であるキリスト・イエスによって任命され、キリスト・イエスの使徒となったパウロから、

1:2 信仰によるまことの子テモテへ。父である神とわたしたちの主キリスト・イエスからの恵み、憐れみ、そして平和があるように。

◆異なる教えについての警告

1:3 マケドニア州に出発するときに頼んでおいたように、あなたはエフェソにとどまって、ある人々に命じなさい。異なる教えを説いたり、

1:4 作り話や切りのない系図に心を奪われたりしないようにと。このような作り話や系図は、信仰による神の救いの計画の実現よりも、むしろ無意味な詮索を引き起こします。

1:5 わたしのこの命令は、清い心と正しい良心と純真な信仰とから生じる愛を目指すものです。

1:6 ある人々はこれらのものからそれて、無益な議論の中に迷い込みました。

1:7 彼らは、自分の言っていることも主張している事柄についても理解していないのに、律法の教師でありたいと思っています。

1:8 しかし、わたしたちは、律法は正しく用いるならば良いものであることを知っています。

1:9 すなわち、次のことを知って用いれば良いものです。律法は、正しい者のために与えられているのではなく、不法な者や不従順な者、不信心な者や罪を犯す者、神を畏れぬ者や俗悪な者、父を殺す者や母を殺す者、人を殺す者、

1:10 みだらな行いをする者、男色をする者、誘拐する者、偽りを言う者、偽証する者のために与えられ、そのほか、健全な教えに反することがあれば、そのために与えられているのです。

1:11 今述べたことは、祝福に満ちた神の栄光の福音に一致しており、わたしはその福音をゆだねられています。

◆神の憐れみに対する感謝

1:12 わたしを強くしてくださった、わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスに感謝しています。この方が、わたしを忠実な者と見なして務めに就かせてくださったからです。

1:13 以前、わたしは神を冒涜する者、迫害する者、暴力を振るう者でした。しかし、信じていないとき知らずに行ったことなので、憐れみを受けました。

1:14 そして、わたしたちの主の恵みが、キリスト・イエスによる信仰と愛と共に、あふれるほど与えられました。

ＴＥＶ Ⅰテモ1:1-14

1:1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by order of God our Savior and Christ Jesus our hope-

1:2 To Timothy, my true son in the faith: /May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

1:3 I want you to stay in Ephesus, just as I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia. Some people there are teaching false doctrines, and you must order them to stop.

1:4 Tell them to give up those legends and those long lists of ancestors, which only produce arguments; they do not serve God's plan, which is known by faith.

1:5 The purpose of this order is to arouse the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a genuine faith.

1:6 Some people have turned away from these and have lost their way in foolish discussions.

1:7 They want to be teachers of God's law, but they do not understand their own words or the matters about which they speak with so much confidence.

1:8 We know that the Law is good if it is used as it should be used.

1:9 It must be remembered, of course, that laws are made, not for good people, but for lawbreakers and criminals, for the godless and sinful, for those who are not religious or spiritual, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,

1:10 for the immoral, for sexual perverts, for kidnappers, for those who lie and give false testimony or who do anything else contrary to sound doctrine.

1:11 That teaching is found in the gospel that was entrusted to me to announce, the Good News from the glorious and blessed God.

1:12 I give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength for my work. I thank him for considering me worthy and appointing me to serve him,

1:13 even though in the past I spoke evil of him and persecuted and insulted him. But God was merciful to me because I did not yet have faith and so did not know what I was doing.

1:14 And our Lord poured out his abundant grace on me and gave me the faith and love which are ours in union with Christ Jesus.
