33:1 さてヨブよ、わたしの言葉を聞き／わたしの言うことによく耳を傾けよ。

33:2 見よ、わたしは口を開き／舌は口の中で動き始める。

33:3 わたしの言葉はわたしの心を率直に表し／唇は知っていることをはっきりと語る。

33:4 神の霊がわたしを造り／全能者の息吹がわたしに命を与えたのだ。

33:5 答えられるなら、答えてみよ。備えをして、わたしの前に立て。

33:6 神の前では、わたしもあなたと同じように／土から取られたひとかけらのものにすぎない。

33:7 見よ、わたしには脅かすような威力はない。あなたを押さえつけようとしているのではない。

33:8 あなたが話すのはわたしの耳に入り／声も言葉もわたしは聞いた。

33:9 「わたしは潔白で、罪を犯していない。わたしは清く、とがめられる理由はない。

33:10 それでも神はわたしに対する不満を見いだし／わたしを敵視される。

33:11 わたしに足枷をはめ／行く道を見張っておられる。」

33:12 ここにあなたの過ちがある、と言おう。神は人間よりも強くいます。

33:13 なぜ、あなたは神と争おうとするのか。神はそのなさることを／いちいち説明されない。

33:14 神は一つのことによって語られ／また、二つのことによって語られるが／人はそれに気がつかない。

33:15 人が深い眠りに包まれ、横たわって眠ると／夢の中で、夜の幻の中で

33:16 神は人の耳を開き／懲らしめの言葉を封じ込められる。

33:17 人が行いを改め、誇りを抑え

33:18 こうして、その魂が滅亡を免れ／命が死の川を渡らずに済むようにされる。

33:19 苦痛に責められて横たわる人があるとする。骨のうずきは絶えることなく

33:20 命はパンをいとい／魂は好みの食べ物をすらいとう。

33:21 肉は消耗して見えなくなり／見えなかった骨は姿を現し

33:22 魂は滅亡に／命はそれを奪うものに近づいてゆく。

33:23 千人に一人でもこの人のために執り成し／その正しさを示すために／遣わされる御使いがあり

33:24 彼を憐れんで／「この人を免除し、滅亡に落とさないでください。代償を見つけて来ました」と言ってくれるなら

33:25 彼の肉は新しくされて／若者よりも健やかになり／再び若いときのようになるであろう。

33:26 彼は神に祈って受け入れられ／歓びの叫びの内に御顔を仰ぎ／再び神はこの人を正しいと認められるであろう。

33:27 彼は人々の前でたたえて歌うであろう。「わたしは罪を犯し／正しいことを曲げた。それはわたしのなすべきことではなかった。

33:28 しかし神はわたしの魂を滅亡から救い出された。わたしは命を得て光を仰ぐ」と。

33:29 まことに神はこのようになさる。人間のために、二度でも三度でも。

33:30 その魂を滅亡から呼び戻し／命の光に輝かせてくださる。

33:31 ヨブよ、耳を傾けて／わたしの言うことを聞け。沈黙せよ、わたしに語らせよ。

33:32 わたしに答えて言うことがあるなら、語れ。正しい主張を聞くのがわたしの望みだ。

33:33 言うことがなければ、耳を傾けよ。沈黙せよ、わたしがあなたに知恵を示そう。

ＴＥＶ ヨブ 33:1-33

33:1 And now, Job, listen carefully /to all that I have to say.

33:2 I am ready to say what's on my mind.

33:3 All my words are sincere, /and I am speaking the truth.

33:4 God's spirit made me and gave me life.

33:5 Answer me if you can. Prepare your arguments.

33:6 You and I are the same in God's sight, /both of us were formed from clay.

33:7 So you have no reason to fear me; /I will not overpower you.

33:8 Now this is what I heard you say:

33:9 "I am not guilty; I have done nothing wrong. /I am innocent and free from sin.

33:10 But God finds excuses for attacking me /and treats me like an enemy.

33:11 He binds chains on my feet; /he watches every move I make."

33:12 But I tell you, Job, you are wrong. /God is greater than any human being.

33:13 Why do you accuse God /of never answering our complaints?

33:14 Although God speaks again and again, /no one pays attention to what he says.

33:15 At night when people are asleep, /God speaks in dreams and visions.

33:16 He makes them listen to what he says, /and they are frightened at his warnings.

33:17 God speaks to make them stop their sinning /and to save them from becoming proud.

33:18 He will not let them be destroyed; /he saves them from death itself.

33:19 God corrects us by sending sickness /and filling our bodies with pain.

33:20 Those who are sick lose their appetites, /and even the finest food looks revolting.

33:21 Their bodies waste away to nothing; /you can see all their bones;

33:22 they are about to go to the world of the dead.

33:23 Perhaps an angel may come to their aid- /one of God's thousands of angels, /who remind us of our duty.

33:24 In mercy the angel will say, "Release them! /They are not to go down to the world of the dead. /Here is the ransom to set them free."

33:25 Their bodies will grow young and strong again;

33:26 when they pray, God will answer; /they will worship God with joy; /God will set things right for them again.

33:27 Each one will say in public, "I have sinned. /I have not done right, but God spared me.

33:28 He kept me from going to the world of the dead, /and I am still alive."

33:29 God does all this again and again;

33:30 each one saves a person's life, /and gives him the joy of living.

33:31 Now, Job, listen to what I am saying; /be quiet and let me speak.

33:32 But if you have something to say, let me hear it; /I would gladly admit you are in the right.

33:33 But if not, be quiet and listen to me, /and I will teach you how to be wise.
