◆神の小羊

1:29 その翌日、ヨハネは、自分の方へイエスが来られるのを見て言った。「見よ、世の罪を取り除く神の小羊だ。

1:30 『わたしの後から一人の人が来られる。その方はわたしにまさる。わたしよりも先におられたからである』とわたしが言ったのは、この方のことである。

1:31 わたしはこの方を知らなかった。しかし、この方がイスラエルに現れるために、わたしは、水で洗礼を授けに来た。」

1:32 そしてヨハネは証しした。「わたしは、“霊”が鳩のように天から降って、この方の上にとどまるのを見た。

1:33 わたしはこの方を知らなかった。しかし、水で洗礼を授けるためにわたしをお遣わしになった方が、『“霊”が降って、ある人にとどまるのを見たら、その人が、聖霊によって洗礼を授ける人である』とわたしに言われた。

1:34 わたしはそれを見た。だから、この方こそ神の子であると証ししたのである。」

1:24 Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.

1:25 And they asked him, saying, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"

1:26 John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know.

1:27 "It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose."

1:28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

1:30 "This is He of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.'

1:31 "I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water."

1:32 And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

1:33 "I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

1:34 "And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."

1:24 The messengers, who had been sent by the Pharisees,

1:25 then asked John, "If you are not the Messiah nor Elijah nor the Prophet, why do you baptize?"

1:26 John answered, "I baptize with water, but among you stands the one you do not know.

1:27 He is coming after me, but I am not good enough even to untie his sandals."

1:28 All this happened in Bethany on the east side of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.

1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "There is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

1:30 This is the one I was talking about when I said, "A man is coming after me, but he is greater than I am, because he existed before I was born.'

1:31 I did not know who he would be, but I came baptizing with water in order to make him known to the people of Israel."

1:32 And John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and stay on him.

1:33 I still did not know that he was the one, but God, who sent me to baptize with water, had said to me, "You will see the Spirit come down and stay on a man; he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

1:34 I have seen it," said John, "and I tell you that he is the Son of God."
