8:1 イエスはオリブ山に行かれた。

8:2 朝早くまた宮にはいられると、人々が皆みもとに集まってきたので、イエスはすわって彼らを教えておられた。

8:3 すると、律法学者たちやパリサイ人たちが、姦淫をしている時につかまえられた女をひっぱってきて、中に立たせた上、イエスに言った、

8:4 「先生、この女は姦淫の場でつかまえられました。

8:5 モーセは律法の中で、こういう女を石で打ち殺せと命じましたが、あなたはどう思いますか」。

8:6 彼らがそう言ったのは、イエスをためして、訴える口実を得るためであった。しかし、イエスは身をかがめて、指で地面に何か書いておられた。

8:7 彼らが問い続けるので、イエスは身を起して彼らに言われた、「あなたがたの中で罪のない者が、まずこの女に石を投げつけるがよい」。

8:8 そしてまた身をかがめて、地面に物を書きつづけられた。

8:9 これを聞くと、彼らは年寄から始めて、ひとりびとり出て行き、ついに、イエスだけになり、女は中にいたまま残された。

8:10 そこでイエスは身を起して女に言われた、「女よ、みんなはどこにいるか。あなたを罰する者はなかったのか」。

8:11 女は言った、「主よ、だれもございません」。イエスは言われた、「わたしもあなたを罰しない。お帰りなさい。今後はもう罪を犯さないように」。〕

8:4 イエスに言った。「先生。この女は姦淫の現場でつかまえられたのです。

8:5 モーセは律法の中で、こういう女を石打ちにするように命じています。ところで、あなたは何と言われますか。」

8:6 彼らはイエスをためしてこう言ったのである。それは、イエスを告発する理由を得るためであった。しかし、イエスは身をかがめて、指で地面に書いておられた。

8:7 けれども、彼らが問い続けてやめなかったので、イエスは身を起こして言われた。「あなたがたのうちで罪のない者が、最初に彼女に石を投げなさい。」

8:8 そしてイエスは、もう一度身をかがめて、地面に書かれた。

8:9 彼らはそれを聞くと、年長者たちから始めて、ひとりひとり出て行き、イエスがひとり残された。女はそのままそこにいた。

8:10 イエスは身を起こして、その女に言われた。「婦人よ。あの人たちは今どこにいますか。あなたを罪に定める者はなかったのですか。」

8:11 彼女は言った。「だれもいません。」そこで、イエスは言われた。「わたしもあなたを罪に定めない。行きなさい。今からは決して罪を犯してはなりません。」〕

8:6 イエスを試して、訴える口実を得るために、こう言ったのである。イエスはかがみ込み、指で地面に何か書き始められた。

8:7 しかし、彼らがしつこく問い続けるので、イエスは身を起こして言われた。「あなたたちの中で罪を犯したことのない者が、まず、この女に石を投げなさい。」

8:8 そしてまた、身をかがめて地面に書き続けられた。

8:9 これを聞いた者は、年長者から始まって、一人また一人と、立ち去ってしまい、イエスひとりと、真ん中にいた女が残った。

8:10 イエスは、身を起こして言われた。「婦人よ、あの人たちはどこにいるのか。だれもあなたを罪に定めなかったのか。」

8:11 女が、「主よ、だれも」と言うと、イエスは言われた。「わたしもあなたを罪に定めない。行きなさい。これからは、もう罪を犯してはならない。」〕

8:1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

8:2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.

8:3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,

8:4 they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

8:5 "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?"

8:6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.

8:7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first."

8:8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.

8:9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

8:10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, "Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?"

8:11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to her, "Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more."

8:1 Then everyone went home, but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

8:2 Early the next morning he went back to the Temple. All the people gathered around him, and he sat down and began to teach them.

8:3 The teachers of the Law and the Pharisees brought in a woman who had been caught committing adultery, and they made her stand before them all.

8:4 "Teacher," they said to Jesus, "this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.

8:5 In our Law Moses commanded that such a woman must be stoned to death. Now, what do you say?"

8:6 They said this to trap Jesus, so that they could accuse him. But he bent over and wrote on the ground with his finger.

8:7 As they stood there asking him questions, he straightened up and said to them, "Whichever one of you has committed no sin may throw the first stone at her."

8:8 Then he bent over again and wrote on the ground.

8:9 When they heard this, they all left, one by one, the older ones first. Jesus was left alone, with the woman still standing there.

8:10 He straightened up and said to her, "Where are they? Is there no one left to condemn you?"

8:11 "No one, sir," she answered. /"Well, then," Jesus said, "I do not condemn you either. Go, but do not sin again."
