19:1 そこで、ピラトはイエスを捕らえ、鞭で打たせた。

19:2 兵士たちは茨で冠を編んでイエスの頭に載せ、紫の服をまとわせ、

19:3 そばにやって来ては、「ユダヤ人の王、万歳」と言って、平手で打った。

19:4 ピラトはまた出て来て、言った。「見よ、あの男をあなたたちのところへ引き出そう。そうすれば、わたしが彼に何の罪も見いだせないわけが分かるだろう。」

19:5 イエスは茨の冠をかぶり、紫の服を着けて出て来られた。ピラトは、「見よ、この男だ」と言った。

19:6 祭司長たちや下役たちは、イエスを見ると、「十字架につけろ。十字架につけろ」と叫んだ。ピラトは言った。「あなたたちが引き取って、十字架につけるがよい。わたしはこの男に罪を見いだせない。」

19:7 ユダヤ人たちは答えた。「わたしたちには律法があります。律法によれば、この男は死罪に当たります。神の子と自称したからです。」

19:8 ピラトは、この言葉を聞いてますます恐れ、

19:9 再び総督官邸の中に入って、「お前はどこから来たのか」とイエスに言った。しかし、イエスは答えようとされなかった。

19:10 そこで、ピラトは言った。「わたしに答えないのか。お前を釈放する権限も、十字架につける権限も、このわたしにあることを知らないのか。」

19:11 イエスは答えられた。「神から与えられていなければ、わたしに対して何の権限もないはずだ。だから、わたしをあなたに引き渡した者の罪はもっと重い。」

19:12 そこで、ピラトはイエスを釈放しようと努めた。しかし、ユダヤ人たちは叫んだ。「もし、この男を釈放するなら、あなたは皇帝の友ではない。王と自称する者は皆、皇帝に背いています。」

19:13 ピラトは、これらの言葉を聞くと、イエスを外に連れ出し、ヘブライ語でガバタ、すなわち「敷石」という場所で、裁判の席に着かせた。

19:14 それは過越祭の準備の日の、正午ごろであった。ピラトがユダヤ人たちに、「見よ、あなたたちの王だ」と言うと、

19:15 彼らは叫んだ。「殺せ。殺せ。十字架につけろ。」ピラトが、「あなたたちの王をわたしが十字架につけるのか」と言うと、祭司長たちは、「わたしたちには、皇帝のほかに王はありません」と答えた。

19:16 そこで、ピラトは、十字架につけるために、イエスを彼らに引き渡した。

ＴＥＶ ヨハ 19:1-16

19:1 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him whipped.

19:2 The soldiers made a crown out of thorny branches and put it on his head; then they put a purple robe on him

19:3 and came to him and said, "Long live the King of the Jews!" And they went up and slapped him.

19:4 Pilate went back out once more and said to the crowd, "Look, I will bring him out here to you to let you see that I cannot find any reason to condemn him."

19:5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, "Look! Here is the man!"

19:6 When the chief priests and the Temple guards saw him, they shouted, "Crucify him! Crucify him!" /Pilate said to them, "You take him, then, and crucify him. I find no reason to condemn him."

19:7 The crowd answered back, "We have a law that says he ought to die, because he claimed to be the Son of God."

19:8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid.

19:9 He went back into the palace and asked Jesus, "Where do you come from?" /But Jesus did not answer.

19:10 Pilate said to him, "You will not speak to me? Remember, I have the authority to set you free and also to have you crucified."

19:11 Jesus answered, "You have authority over me only because it was given to you by God. So the man who handed me over to you is guilty of a worse sin."

19:12 When Pilate heard this, he tried to find a way to set Jesus free. But the crowd shouted back, "If you set him free, that means that you are not the Emperor's friend! Anyone who claims to be a king is a rebel against the Emperor!"

19:13 When Pilate heard these words, he took Jesus outside and sat down on the judge's seat in the place called "The Stone Pavement." (In Hebrew the name is "Gabbatha.")

19:14 It was then almost noon of the day before the Passover. Pilate said to the people, "Here is your king!"

19:15 They shouted back, "Kill him! Kill him! Crucify him!" /Pilate asked them, "Do you want me to crucify your king?" /The chief priests answered, "The only king we have is the Emperor!"

19:16 Then Pilate handed Jesus over to them to be crucified.
