5:1 イスラエルの全部族はヘブロンのダビデのもとに来てこう言った。「御覧ください。わたしたちはあなたの骨肉です。

5:2 これまで、サウルがわたしたちの王であったときにも、イスラエルの進退の指揮をとっておられたのはあなたでした。主はあなたに仰せになりました。『わが民イスラエルを牧するのはあなただ。あなたがイスラエルの指導者となる』と。」

5:3 イスラエルの長老たちは全員、ヘブロンの王のもとに来た。ダビデ王はヘブロンで主の御前に彼らと契約を結んだ。長老たちはダビデに油を注ぎ、イスラエルの王とした。

5:4 ダビデは三十歳で王となり、四十年間王位にあった。

5:5 七年六か月の間ヘブロンでユダを、三十三年の間エルサレムでイスラエルとユダの全土を統治した。

◆ダビデの町エルサレム

5:6 王とその兵はエルサレムに向かい、その地の住民のエブス人を攻めようとした。エブス人はダビデが町に入ることはできないと思い、ダビデに言った。「お前はここに入れまい。目の見えない者、足の不自由な者でも、お前を追い払うことは容易だ。」

5:7 しかしダビデはシオンの要害を陥れた。これがダビデの町である。

5:8 そのとき、ダビデは言った。「エブス人を討とうとする者は皆、水くみのトンネルを通って町に入り、ダビデの命を憎むという足の不自由な者、目の見えない者を討て。」このために、目や足の不自由な者は神殿に入ってはならない、と言われるようになった。

5:9 ダビデはこの要害に住み、それをダビデの町と呼び、ミロから内部まで、周囲に城壁を築いた。

5:10 ダビデは次第に勢力を増し、万軍の神、主は彼と共におられた。

5:11 ティルスの王ヒラムはダビデのもとに使節を派遣し、レバノン杉、木工、石工を送って来た。彼らはダビデの王宮を建てた。

5:12 ダビデは、主が彼をイスラエルの王として揺るぎないものとされ、主の民イスラエルのために彼の王権を高めてくださったことを悟った。

◆エルサレムで生まれたダビデの子供

5:13 ダビデはヘブロンから移った後、エルサレムでも妻をめとり、側女を置いたので、息子や娘が更に生まれた。

5:14 エルサレムで生まれた子供たちの名は次のとおりである。シャムア、ショバブ、ナタン、ソロモン、

5:15 イブハル、エリシュア、ネフェグ、ヤフィア、

5:16 エリシャマ、エルヤダ、エリフェレト。

◆ダビデ、ペリシテ人を破る

5:17 ペリシテ人は、ダビデが油を注がれてイスラエルの王になったことを聞いた。すべてのペリシテ人が、ダビデの命をねらって攻め上って来た。ダビデはこれを聞いて要害に下った。

5:18 やって来たペリシテ人はレファイムの谷に陣を広げた。

5:19 ダビデは主に託宣を求めた。「ペリシテ人に向かって攻め上るべきでしょうか。彼らをこの手にお渡しくださるでしょうか。」主はダビデに答えられた。「攻め上れ。必ずペリシテ人をあなたの手に渡す。」

5:20 ダビデはバアル・ペラツィムに攻め入り、彼らを討ち滅ぼして、こう言った。「主は敵をわたしの前で、水が堤防を破るように打ち破ってくださった。」その場所をバアル・ペラツィム（破れ目の主）と呼ぶのは、このためである。

5:21 ペリシテ人が自分たちの偶像をそこに捨てて行ったので、ダビデとその兵はそれを運び去った。

5:22 ペリシテ人は再び攻め上り、レファイムの谷に陣を広げた。

5:23 ダビデが主に託宣を求めると、次のように答えられた。「攻め上らず、背後に回れ。バルサムの茂みの反対側から敵に向かえ。

5:24 茂み越しに行軍の音を聞いたら、攻めかかれ。主がペリシテの陣営を討つために、お前に先んじて出陣されるのだ。」

5:25 ダビデは主の命じられたとおりに行動し、ゲバからゲゼルに至るまで、ペリシテ人を討ち滅ぼした。

ＴＥＶ �Uサム5:1-25

5:1 Then all the tribes of Israel went to David at Hebron and said to him, "We are your own flesh and blood.

5:2 In the past, even when Saul was still our king, you led the people of Israel in battle, and the Lord promised you that you would lead his people and be their ruler."

5:3 So all the leaders of Israel came to King David at Hebron. He made a sacred alliance with them, they anointed him, and he became king of Israel.

5:4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he ruled for forty years.

5:5 He ruled in Hebron over Judah for seven and a half years, and in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah for thirty-three years.

5:6 The time came when King David and his men set out to attack Jerusalem. The Jebusites, who lived there, thought that David would not be able to conquer the city, and so they said to him, "You will never get in here; even the blind and the crippled could keep you out."

5:7 (But David did capture their fortress of Zion, and it became known as "David's City.")

5:8 That day David said to his men, "Does anybody here hate the Jebusites as much as I do? Enough to kill them? Then go up through the water tunnel and attack those poor blind cripples." (That is why it is said, "The blind and the crippled cannot enter the Lord's house.")

5:9 After capturing the fortress, David lived in it and named it "David's City." He built the city around it, starting at the place where land was filled in on the east side of the hill.

5:10 He grew stronger all the time, because the Lord God Almighty was with him.

5:11 King Hiram of Tyre sent a trade mission to David; he provided him with cedar logs and with carpenters and stone masons to build a palace.

5:12 And so David realized that the Lord had established him as king of Israel and was making his kingdom prosperous for the sake of his people.

5:13 After moving from Hebron to Jerusalem, David took more concubines and wives, and had more sons and daughters.

5:14 The following children were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,

5:15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,

5:16 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet.

5:17 The Philistines were told that David had been made king of Israel, so their army set out to capture him. When David heard of it, he went down to a fortified place.

5:18 The Philistines arrived at Rephaim Valley and occupied it.

5:19 David asked the Lord, "Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you give me the victory?" /"Yes, attack!" the Lord answered. "I will give you the victory!"

5:20 So David went to Baal Perazim and there he defeated the Philistines. He said, "The Lord has broken through my enemies like a flood." And so that place is called Baal Perazim.

5:21 When the Philistines fled, they left their idols behind, and David and his men carried them away.

5:22 Then the Philistines went back to Rephaim Valley and occupied it again.

5:23 Once more David consulted the Lord, who answered, "Don't attack them from here, but go around and get ready to attack them from the other side, near the balsam trees.

5:24 When you hear the sound of marching in the treetops, then attack because I will be marching ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army."

5:25 David did what the Lord had commanded, and was able to drive the Philistines back from Geba all the way to Gezer.
