22:23 復活ということはないと主張していたサドカイ人たちが、その日、イエスのもとにきて質問した、
22:24 「先生、モーセはこう言っています、『もし、ある人が子がなくて死んだなら、その弟は兄の妻をめとって、兄のために子をもうけねばならない』。
22:25 さて、わたしたちのところに七人の兄弟がありました。長男は妻をめとったが死んでしまい、そして子がなかったので、その妻を弟に残しました。
22:26 次男も三男も、ついに七人とも同じことになりました。
22:27 最後に、その女も死にました。
22:28 すると復活の時には、この女は、七人のうちだれの妻なのでしょうか。みんながこの女を妻にしたのですが」。
22:29 イエスは答えて言われた、「あなたがたは聖書も神の力も知らないから、思い違いをしている。
22:30 復活の時には、彼らはめとったり、とついだりすることはない。彼らは天にいる御使のようなものである。
22:31 また、死人の復活については、神があなたがたに言われた言葉を読んだことがないのか。

22:23 The same day the
Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,
22:24 saying:
"Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother
shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.
22:25 "Now there
were with us seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and having no
offspring, left his wife to his brother.
22:26 "Likewise the
second also, and the third, even to the seventh.
22:27 "Last of all
the woman died also.
22:28 "Therefore, in
the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had
her."
22:29 Jesus answered and
said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power
of God.
22:30 "For in the
resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels
of God in heaven.
22:31 "But
concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to
you by God, saying,
22:32 'I am the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the
dead, but of the living."
22:33 And when the
multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.

22:23 That same day some
Sadducees came to Jesus and claimed that people will not rise from death.
22:24
"Teacher," they said, "Moses said that if a man who has no
children dies, his brother must marry the widow so that they can have children
who will be considered the dead man's children.
22:25 Now, there were
seven brothers who used to live here. The oldest got married and died without
having children, so he left his widow to his brother.
22:26 The same thing
happened to the second brother, to the third, and finally to all seven.
22:27 Last of all, the
woman died.
22:28 Now, on the day
when the dead rise to life, whose wife will she be? All of them had married
her."
22:29 Jesus answered
them, "How wrong you are! It is because you don't know the Scriptures or
God's power.
22:30 For when the dead
rise to life, they will be like the angels in heaven and will not marry.
22:31 Now, as for the
dead rising to life: haven't you ever read what God has told you? He said,
22:32 "I am the God
of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' He is the God of the
living, not of the dead."
22:33 When the crowds
heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.
