22:17 あなたを豊かに祝福し、あなたの子孫を天の星のように、海辺の砂のように増やそう。あなたの子孫は敵の城門を勝ち取る。

22:18 地上の諸国民はすべて、あなたの子孫によって祝福を得る。あなたがわたしの声に聞き従ったからである。」

22:19 アブラハムは若者のいるところへ戻り、共にベエル・シェバへ向かった。アブラハムはベエル・シェバに住んだ。

◆ナホルの子孫

22:20 これらのことの後で、アブラハムに知らせが届いた。「ミルカもまた、あなたの兄弟ナホルとの間に子供を産みました。

22:21 長男はウツ、その弟はブズ、次はアラムの父ケムエル、

22:22 それからケセド、ハゾ、ピルダシュ、イドラフ、ベトエルです。」

22:23 ベトエルはリベカの父となった。ミルカは、アブラハムの兄弟ナホルとの間にこれら八人の子供を産んだ。

22:24 ナホルの側女で、レウマという女性もまた、テバ、ガハム、タハシュ、マアカを産んだ。

23:1 サラの生涯は百二十七年であった。これがサラの生きた年数である。

23:2 サラは、カナン地方のキルヤト・アルバ、すなわちヘブロンで死んだ。アブラハムは、サラのために胸を打ち、嘆き悲しんだ。

23:3 アブラハムは遺体の傍らから立ち上がり、ヘトの人々に頼んだ。

23:4 「わたしは、あなたがたのところに一時滞在する寄留者ですが、あなたがたが所有する墓地を譲ってくださいませんか。亡くなった妻を葬ってやりたいのです。」

23:5 ヘトの人々はアブラハムに答えた。「どうか、

23:6 御主人、お聞きください。あなたは、わたしどもの中で神に選ばれた方です。どうぞ、わたしどもの最も良い墓地を選んで、亡くなられた方を葬ってください。わたしどもの中には墓地の提供を拒んで、亡くなられた方を葬らせない者など、一人もいません。」

23:7 アブラハムは改めて国の民であるヘトの人々に挨拶をし、

23:8 頼んだ。「もし、亡くなった妻を葬ることをお許しいただけるなら、ぜひ、わたしの願いを聞いてください。ツォハルの子、エフロンにお願いして、

23:9 あの方の畑の端にあるマクペラの洞穴を譲っていただきたいのです。十分な銀をお支払いしますから、皆様方の間に墓地を所有させてください。」

23:10 エフロンはそのとき、ヘトの人々の間に座っていた。ヘトの人エフロンは、町の門の広場に集まって来たすべてのヘトの人々が聞いているところで、アブラハムに答えた。

23:11 「どうか、御主人、お聞きください。あの畑は差し上げます。あそこにある洞穴も差し上げます。わたしの一族が立ち会っているところで、あなたに差し上げますから、早速、亡くなられた方を葬ってください。」

23:12 アブラハムは国の民の前で挨拶をし、

23:13 国の民の聞いているところで、エフロンに頼んだ。「わたしの願いを聞き入れてくださるなら、どうか、畑の代金を払わせてください。どうぞ、受け取ってください。そうすれば、亡くなった妻をあそこに葬ってやれます。」

23:14 エフロンはアブラハムに答えた。「どうか、

23:15 御主人、お聞きください。あの土地は銀四百シェケルのものです。それがあなたとわたしの間で、どれほどのことでしょう。早速、亡くなられた方を葬ってください。」

23:16 アブラハムはこのエフロンの言葉を聞き入れ、エフロンがヘトの人々が聞いているところで言った値段、銀四百シェケルを商人の通用銀の重さで量り、エフロンに渡した。

23:17 こうして、マムレの前のマクペラにあるエフロンの畑は、土地とそこの洞穴と、その周囲の境界内に生えている木を含め、

23:18 町の門の広場に来ていたすべてのヘトの人々の立ち会いのもとに、アブラハムの所有となった。

23:19 その後アブラハムは、カナン地方のヘブロンにあるマムレの前のマクペラの畑の洞穴に妻のサラを葬った。

22:16 "I make a vow by my own name-the Lord is speaking-that I will richly bless you. Because you did this and did not keep back your only son from me,

22:17 I promise that I will give you as many descendants as there are stars in the sky or grains of sand along the seashore. Your descendants will conquer their enemies.

22:18 All the nations will ask me to bless them as I have blessed your descendants-all because you obeyed my command."

22:19 Abraham went back to his servants, and they went together to Beersheba, where Abraham settled.

22:20 Some time later Abraham learned that Milcah had borne eight children to his brother Nahor:

22:21 Uz the first-born, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,

22:22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel,

22:23 Rebecca's father. Milcah bore these eight sons to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

22:24 Reumah, Nahor's concubine, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.

ＴＥＶ 創  23:1-20

23:1 Sarah lived to be 127 years old.

23:2 She died in Hebron in the land of Canaan, and Abraham mourned her death.

23:3 He left the place where his wife's body was lying, went to the Hittites, and said,

23:4 "I am a foreigner living here among you; sell me some land, so that I can bury my wife."

23:5 They answered,

23:6 "Listen to us, sir. We look upon you as a mighty leader; bury your wife in the best grave that we have. Any of us would be glad to give you a grave, so that you can bury her."

23:7 Then Abraham bowed before them

23:8 and said, "If you are willing to let me bury my wife here, please ask Ephron son of Zohar

23:9 to sell me Machpelah Cave, which is near the edge of his field. Ask him to sell it to me for its full price, here in your presence, so that I can own it as a burial ground."

23:10 Ephron himself was sitting with the other Hittites at the meeting place at the city gate; he answered in the hearing of everyone there,

23:11 "Listen, sir; I will give you the whole field and the cave that is in it. Here in the presence of my own people, I will give it to you, so that you can bury your wife."

23:12 But Abraham bowed before the Hittites

23:13 and said to Ephron, so that everyone could hear, "May I ask you, please, to listen. I will buy the whole field. Accept my payment, and I will bury my wife there."

23:14 Ephron answered,

23:15 "Sir, land worth only four hundred pieces of silver-what is that between us? Bury your wife in it."

23:16 Abraham agreed and weighed out the amount that Ephron had mentioned in the hearing of the people-four hundred pieces of silver, according to the standard weights used by the merchants.

23:17 That is how the property which had belonged to Ephron at Machpelah east of Mamre, became Abraham's. It included the field, the cave which was in it, and all the trees in the field up to the edge of the property.

23:18 It was recognized as Abraham's property by all the Hittites who were there at the meeting.

23:19 Then Abraham buried his wife Sarah in that cave in the land of Canaan.

23:20 So the field which had belonged to the Hittites, and the cave in it, became the property of Abraham for a burial ground.
