「疲れた魂を潤す神」

31章15-40

31:15 主はこう言われる。ラマで声が聞こえる／苦悩に満ちて嘆き、泣く声が。ラケルが息子たちのゆえに泣いている。彼女は慰めを拒む／息子たちはもういないのだから。

31:16 主はこう言われる。泣きやむがよい。目から涙をぬぐいなさい。あなたの苦しみは報いられる、と主は言われる。息子たちは敵の国から帰って来る。

31:17 あなたの未来には希望がある、と主は言われる。息子たちは自分の国に帰って来る。

31:18 わたしはエフライムが嘆くのを確かに聞いた。「あなたはわたしを懲らしめ／わたしは馴らされていない子牛のように／懲らしめを受けました。どうかわたしを立ち帰らせてください。わたしは立ち帰ります。あなたは主、わたしの神です。

31:19 わたしは背きましたが、後悔し／思い知らされ、腿を打って悔いました。わたしは恥を受け、卑しめられ／若いときのそしりを負って来ました。」

31:20 エフライムはわたしのかけがえのない息子／喜びを与えてくれる子ではないか。彼を退けるたびに／わたしは更に、彼を深く心に留める。彼のゆえに、胸は高鳴り／わたしは彼を憐れまずにはいられないと／主は言われる。

31:21 道しるべを置き、柱を立てよ。あなたの心を広い道に／あなたが通って行った道に向けよ。おとめイスラエルよ、立ち帰れ。ここにあるあなたの町々に立ち帰れ。

31:22 いつまでさまようのか／背き去った娘よ。主はこの地に新しいことを創造された。女が男を保護するであろう。

31:23 イスラエルの神、万軍の主はこう言われる。わたしが彼らの繁栄を回復するとき、ユダとその町々で人々は、再びこの言葉を言うであろう。「正義の住まうところ、聖所の山よ／主があなたを祝福されるように。」

31:24 ユダとそのすべての町の民がそこに共に住む。農民も、群れを導く人々も。

31:25 わたしは疲れた魂を潤し、衰えた魂に力を満たす。

31:26 ここで、わたしは目覚めて、見回した。それはわたしにとって、楽しい眠りであった。

31:27 見よ、わたしがイスラエルの家とユダの家に、人の種と動物の種を蒔く日が来る、と主は言われる。

31:28 かつて、彼らを抜き、壊し、破壊し、滅ぼし、災いをもたらそうと見張っていたが、今、わたしは彼らを建て、また植えようと見張っている、と主は言われる。

31:29 その日には、人々はもはや言わない。「先祖が酸いぶどうを食べれば／子孫の歯が浮く」と。

31:30 人は自分の罪のゆえに死ぬ。だれでも酸いぶどうを食べれば、自分の歯が浮く。

31:31 見よ、わたしがイスラエルの家、ユダの家と新しい契約を結ぶ日が来る、と主は言われる。

31:32 この契約は、かつてわたしが彼らの先祖の手を取ってエジプトの地から導き出したときに結んだものではない。わたしが彼らの主人であったにもかかわらず、彼らはこの契約を破った、と主は言われる。

31:33 しかし、来るべき日に、わたしがイスラエルの家と結ぶ契約はこれである、と主は言われる。すなわち、わたしの律法を彼らの胸の中に授け、彼らの心にそれを記す。わたしは彼らの神となり、彼らはわたしの民となる。

31:34 そのとき、人々は隣人どうし、兄弟どうし、「主を知れ」と言って教えることはない。彼らはすべて、小さい者も大きい者もわたしを知るからである、と主は言われる。わたしは彼らの悪を赦し、再び彼らの罪に心を留めることはない。

31:35 主はこう言われる。太陽を置いて昼の光とし／月と星の軌道を定めて夜の光とし／海をかき立て、波を騒がせる方／その御名は万軍の主。

31:36 これらの定めが／わたしの前から退くことがあろうともと／主は言われる。イスラエルの子孫は／永遠に絶えることなく、わたしの民である。

31:37 主はこう言われる。もし、上においては、天が測られ／下においては、地の基が究められるなら／わたしがイスラエルのすべての子孫を／彼らのあらゆる行いのゆえに／拒むこともありえようと／主は言われる。

31:38 見よ、主にささげられたこの都が、ハナンエルの塔から角の門まで再建される日が来る、と主は言われる。

31:39 測り縄は更に伸びて、ガレブの丘に達し、ゴアの方角に回る。

31:40 死体と灰の谷の全域、またキドロンの谷に至るまでと、東側の馬の門の角に至るまでの全域は、主のものとして聖別され、もはやとこしえに、抜かれることも破壊されることもない。

31:15 The Lord says, /"A sound is heard in Ramah, /the sound of bitter weeping. /Rachel is crying for her children; /they are gone, /and she refuses to be comforted.

31:16 Stop your crying /and wipe away your tears. /All that you have done for your children /will not go unrewarded; /they will return from the enemy's land.

31:17 There is hope for your future; /your children will come back home. /I, the Lord, have spoken.

31:18 "I hear the people of Israel say in grief, /"Lord, we were like an untamed animal, /but you taught us to obey. /Bring us back; /we are ready to return to you, /the Lord our God.

31:19 We turned away from you, /but soon we wanted to return. /After you had punished us, /we hung our heads in grief. /We were ashamed and disgraced /because we sinned when we were young.'

31:20 "Israel, you are my dearest child, /the one I love best. /Whenever I mention your name, /I think of you with love. /My heart goes out to you; /I will be merciful.

31:21 Set up signs and mark the road; /find again the way by which you left. /Come back, people of Israel, /come home to the towns you left.

31:22 How long will you hesitate, faithless people? /I have created something new and different, /as different as a woman protecting a man."

31:23 The Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says, "When I restore the people to their land, they will once again say in the land of Judah and in its towns, /"May the Lord bless the sacred hill of Jerusalem, /the holy place where he lives.'

31:24 People will live in Judah and in all its towns, and there will be farmers, and shepherds with their flocks.

31:25 I will refresh those who are weary and will satisfy with food everyone who is weak from hunger.

31:26 So then, people will say, "I went to sleep and woke up refreshed.'

31:27 "I, the Lord, say that the time is coming when I will fill the land of Israel and Judah with people and animals.

31:28 And just as I took care to uproot, to pull down, to overthrow, to destroy, and to demolish them, so I will take care to plant them and to build them up.

31:29 When that time comes, people will no longer say, /"The parents ate the sour grapes, /But the children got the sour taste.'

31:30 Instead, those who eat sour grapes will have their own teeth set on edge; and everyone will die because of their own sin."

31:31 The Lord says, "The time is coming when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.

31:32 It will not be like the old covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand and led them out of Egypt. Although I was like a husband to them, they did not keep that covenant.

31:33 The new covenant that I will make with the people of Israel will be this: I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

31:34 None of them will have to teach a neighbor to know the Lord, because all will know me, from the least to the greatest. I will forgive their sins and I will no longer remember their wrongs. I, the Lord, have spoken."

31:35 The Lord provides the sun for light by day, /the moon and the stars to shine at night. /He stirs up the sea and makes it roar; /his name is the Lord Almighty.

31:36 He promises that as long as the natural order lasts, /so long will Israel be a nation.

31:37 If one day the sky could be measured /and the foundations of the earth explored, /only then would he reject the people of Israel /because of all they have done. /The Lord has spoken.

31:38 "The time is coming," says the Lord, "when all of Jerusalem will be rebuilt as my city, from Hananel Tower west to the Corner Gate.

31:39 And the boundary line will continue from there on the west to the hill of Gareb and then around to Goah.

31:40 The entire valley, where the dead are buried and garbage is dumped, and all the fields above Kidron Brook as far as the Horse Gate to the east, will be sacred to me. The city will never again be torn down or destroyed."
