2:11 だから、心に留めておきなさい。あなたがたは以前には肉によれば異邦人であり、いわゆる手による割礼を身に受けている人々からは、割礼のない者と呼ばれていました。

2:12 また、そのころは、キリストとかかわりなく、イスラエルの民に属さず、約束を含む契約と関係なく、この世の中で希望を持たず、神を知らずに生きていました。

2:13 しかしあなたがたは、以前は遠く離れていたが、今や、キリスト・イエスにおいて、キリストの血によって近い者となったのです。

2:14 実に、キリストはわたしたちの平和であります。二つのものを一つにし、御自分の肉において敵意という隔ての壁を取り壊し、

2:15 規則と戒律ずくめの律法を廃棄されました。こうしてキリストは、双方を御自分において一人の新しい人に造り上げて平和を実現し、

2:16 十字架を通して、両者を一つの体として神と和解させ、十字架によって敵意を滅ぼされました。

2:17 キリストはおいでになり、遠く離れているあなたがたにも、また、近くにいる人々にも、平和の福音を告げ知らせられました。

2:18 それで、このキリストによってわたしたち両方の者が一つの霊に結ばれて、御父に近づくことができるのです。

2:11 You Gentiles by birth-called "the uncircumcised" by the Jews, who call themselves the circumcised (which refers to what men do to their bodies)-remember what you were in the past.

2:12 At that time you were apart from Christ. You were foreigners and did not belong to God's chosen people. You had no part in the covenants, which were based on God's promises to his people, and you lived in this world without hope and without God.

2:13 But now, in union with Christ Jesus you, who used to be far away, have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

2:14 For Christ himself has brought us peace by making Jews and Gentiles one people. With his own body he broke down the wall that separated them and kept them enemies.

2:15 He abolished the Jewish Law with its commandments and rules, in order to create out of the two races one new people in union with himself, in this way making peace.

2:16 By his death on the cross Christ destroyed their enmity; by means of the cross he united both races into one body and brought them back to God.

2:17 So Christ came and preached the Good News of peace to all-to you Gentiles, who were far away from God, and to the Jews, who were near to him.

2:18 It is through Christ that all of us, Jews and Gentiles, are able to come in the one Spirit into the presence of the Father.
