15:18 「世があなたがたを憎むなら、あなたがたを憎む前にわたしを憎んでいたことを覚えなさい。

15:19 あなたがたが世に属していたなら、世はあなたがたを身内として愛したはずである。だが、あなたがたは世に属していない。わたしがあなたがたを世から選び出した。だから、世はあなたがたを憎むのである。

15:20 『僕は主人にまさりはしない』と、わたしが言った言葉を思い出しなさい。人々がわたしを迫害したのであれば、あなたがたをも迫害するだろう。わたしの言葉を守ったのであれば、あなたがたの言葉をも守るだろう。

15:21 しかし人々は、わたしの名のゆえに、これらのことをみな、あなたがたにするようになる。わたしをお遣わしになった方を知らないからである。

15:22 わたしが来て彼らに話さなかったなら、彼らに罪はなかったであろう。だが、今は、彼らは自分の罪について弁解の余地がない。

15:23 わたしを憎む者は、わたしの父をも憎んでいる。

15:24 だれも行ったことのない業を、わたしが彼らの間で行わなかったなら、彼らに罪はなかったであろう。だが今は、その業を見たうえで、わたしとわたしの父を憎んでいる。

15:25 しかし、それは、『人々は理由もなく、わたしを憎んだ』と、彼らの律法に書いてある言葉が実現するためである。

15:26 わたしが父のもとからあなたがたに遣わそうとしている弁護者、すなわち、父のもとから出る真理の霊が来るとき、その方がわたしについて証しをなさるはずである。

15:27 あなたがたも、初めからわたしと一緒にいたのだから、証しをするのである。

15:18 "If the world hates you, just remember that it has hated me first.

15:19 If you belonged to the world, then the world would love you as its own. But I chose you from this world, and you do not belong to it; that is why the world hates you.

15:20 Remember what I told you: "Slaves are not greater than their master.' If people persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours too.

15:21 But they will do all this to you because you are mine; for they do not know the one who sent me.

15:22 They would not have been guilty of sin if I had not come and spoken to them; as it is, they no longer have any excuse for their sin.

15:23 Whoever hates me hates my Father also.

15:24 They would not have been guilty of sin if I had not done among them the things that no one else ever did; as it is, they have seen what I did, and they hate both me and my Father.

15:25 This, however, was bound to happen so that what is written in their Law may come true: "They hated me for no reason at all.'

15:26 "The Helper will come-the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God and who comes from the Father. I will send him to you from the Father, and he will speak about me.

15:27 And you, too, will speak about me, because you have been with me from the very beginning.
