14:22 それからすぐ、イエスは群衆を解散させておられる間に、しいて弟子たちを舟に乗り込ませ、向こう岸へ先におやりになった。
14:23 そして群衆を解散させてから、祈るためひそかに山へ登られた。夕方になっても、ただひとりそこにおられた。
14:24 ところが舟は、もうすでに陸から数丁も離れており、逆風が吹いていたために、波に悩まされていた。
14:25 イエスは夜明けの四時ごろ、海の上を歩いて彼らの方へ行かれた。
14:26 弟子たちは、イエスが海の上を歩いておられるのを見て、幽霊だと言っておじ惑い、恐怖のあまり叫び声をあげた。
14:27 しかし、イエスはすぐに彼らに声をかけて、「しっかりするのだ、わたしである。恐れることはない」と言われた。
14:28 するとペテロが答えて言った、「主よ、あなたでしたか。では、わたしに命じて、水の上を渡ってみもとに行かせてください」。
14:29 イエスは、「おいでなさい」と言われたので、ペテロは舟からおり、水の上を歩いてイエスのところへ行った。
14:30 しかし、風を見て恐ろしくなり、そしておぼれかけたので、彼は叫んで、「主よ、お助けください」と言った。
14:31 イエスはすぐに手を伸ばし、彼をつかまえて言われた、「信仰の薄い者よ、なぜ疑ったのか」。
14:32 ふたりが舟に乗り込むと、風はやんでしまった。

14:23 群衆を帰したあとで、祈るために、ひとりで山に登られた。夕方になったが、まだそこに、ひとりでおられた。
14:24 しかし、舟は、陸からもう何キロメートルも離れていたが、風が向かい風なので、波に悩まされていた。
14:25 すると、夜中の三時ごろ、イエスは湖の上を歩いて、彼らのところに行かれた。
14:26 弟子たちは、イエスが湖の上を歩いておられるのを見て、「あれは幽霊だ。」と言って、おびえてしまい、恐ろしさのあまり、叫び声を上げた。
14:27 しかし、イエスはすぐに彼らに話しかけ、「しっかりしなさい。わたしだ。恐れることはない。」と言われた。
14:28 すると、ペテロが答えて言った。「主よ。もし、あなたでしたら、私に、水の上を歩いてここまで来い、とお命じになってください。」
14:29 イエスは「来なさい。」と言われた。そこで、ペテロは舟から出て、水の上を歩いてイエスのほうに行った。
14:30 ところが、風を見て、こわくなり、沈みかけたので叫び出し、「主よ。助けてください。」と言った。
14:31 そこで、イエスはすぐに手を伸ばして、彼をつかんで言われた。「信仰の薄い人だな。なぜ疑うのか。」
14:32 そして、ふたりが舟に乗り移ると、風がやんだ。
14:33 そこで、舟の中にいた者たちは、イエスを拝んで、「確かにあなたは神の子です。」と言った。

14:22 Immediately Jesus
made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while
He sent the multitudes away.
14:23 And when He had
sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now
when evening came, He was alone there.
14:24 But the boat was
now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
14:25 Now in the fourth
watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.
14:26 And when the
disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a
ghost!" And they cried out for fear.
14:27 But immediately
Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be
afraid."
14:28 And Peter answered
Him and said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the
water."
14:29 So He said,
"Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on
the water to go to Jesus.
14:30 But when he saw
that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried
out, saying, "Lord, save me!"
14:31 And immediately
Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of
little faith, why did you doubt?"
14:32 And when they got
into the boat, the wind ceased.
14:33 Then those who were
in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "Truly You are the Son of
God."

14:22 Then Jesus made the
disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side of the lake,
while he sent the people away.
14:23 After sending the
people away, he went up a hill by himself to pray. When evening came, Jesus was
there alone;
14:24 and by this time
the boat was far out in the lake, tossed about by the waves, because the wind
was blowing against it.
14:25 Between three and
six o'clock in the morning Jesus came to the disciples, walking on the water.
14:26 When they saw him
walking on the water, they were terrified. "It's a ghost!" they said,
and screamed with fear.
14:27 Jesus spoke to them
at once. "Courage!" he said. "It is I. Don't be afraid!"
14:28 Then Peter spoke
up. "Lord, if it is really you, order me to come out on the water to
you."
14:29 "Come!"
answered Jesus. So Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water
to Jesus.
14:30 But when he noticed
the strong wind, he was afraid and started to sink down in the water.
"Save me, Lord!" he cried.
14:31 At once Jesus
reached out and grabbed hold of him and said, "What little faith you have!
Why did you doubt?"
14:32 They both got into
the boat, and the wind died down.
14:33 Then the disciples
in the boat worshiped Jesus. "Truly you are the Son of God!" they
exclaimed.
