22:1 イエスはまた、譬で彼らに語って言われた、
22:2 「天国は、ひとりの王がその王子のために、婚宴を催すようなものである。
22:3 王はその僕たちをつかわして、この婚宴に招かれていた人たちを呼ばせたが、その人たちはこようとはしなかった。
22:4 そこでまた、ほかの僕たちをつかわして言った、『招かれた人たちに言いなさい。食事の用意ができました。牛も肥えた獣もほふられて、すべての用意ができました。さあ、婚宴においでください』。
22:5 しかし、彼らは知らぬ顔をして、ひとりは自分の畑に、ひとりは自分の商売に出て行き、
22:6 またほかの人々は、この僕たちをつかまえて侮辱を加えた上、殺してしまった。
22:7 そこで王は立腹し、軍隊を送ってそれらの人殺しどもを滅ぼし、その町を焼き払った。
22:8 それから僕たちに言った、『婚宴の用意はできているが、招かれていたのは、ふさわしくない人々であった。
22:9 だから、町の大通りに出て行って、出会った人はだれでも婚宴に連れてきなさい』。
22:10 そこで、僕たちは道に出て行って、出会う人は、悪人でも善人でもみな集めてきたので、婚宴の席は客でいっぱいになった。
22:11 王は客を迎えようとしてはいってきたが、そこに礼服をつけていないひとりの人を見て、
22:12 彼に言った、『友よ、どうしてあなたは礼服をつけないで、ここにはいってきたのですか』。しかし、彼は黙っていた。
22:13 そこで、王はそばの者たちに言った、『この者の手足をしばって、外の暗やみにほうり出せ。そこで泣き叫んだり、歯がみをしたりするであろう』。
22:14 招かれる者は多いが、選ばれる者は少ない」。
22:15 そのときパリサイ人たちがきて、どうかしてイエスを言葉のわなにかけようと、相談をした。
22:16 そして、彼らの弟子を、ヘロデ党の者たちと共に、イエスのもとにつかわして言わせた、「先生、わたしたちはあなたが真実なかたであって、真理に基いて神の道を教え、また、人に分け隔てをしないで、だれをもはばかられないことを知っています。

22:1 イエスはもう一度たとえをもって彼らに話された。
22:2 「天の御国は、王子のために結婚の披露宴を設けた王にたとえることができます。
22:3 王は、招待しておいたお客を呼びに、しもべたちを遣わしたが、彼らは来たがらなかった。
22:4 それで、もう一度、次のように言いつけて、別のしもべたちを遣わした。『お客に招いておいた人たちにこう言いなさい。「さあ、食事の用意ができました。雄牛も太った家畜もほふって、何もかも整いました。どうぞ宴会にお出かけください。」』
22:5 ところが、彼らは気にもかけず、ある者は畑に、別の者は商売に出て行き、
22:6 そのほかの者たちは、王のしもべたちをつかまえて恥をかかせ、そして殺してしまった。
22:7 王は怒って、兵隊を出して、その人殺しどもを滅ぼし、彼らの町を焼き払った。
22:8 そのとき、王はしもべたちに言った。『宴会の用意はできているが、招待しておいた人たちは、それにふさわしくなかった。

22:15 それから、ファリサイ派の人々は出て行って、どのようにしてイエスの言葉じりをとらえて、罠にかけようかと相談した。

22:1 And Jesus answered
and spoke to them again by parables and said:
22:2 "The kingdom of
heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,
22:3 "and sent out
his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not
willing to come.
22:4 "Again, he sent
out other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, "See, I have
prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are
ready. Come to the wedding." '
22:5 "But they made
light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business.
22:6 "And the rest
seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them.
22:7 "But when the
king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed
those murderers, and burned up their city.
22:8 "Then he said
to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not
worthy.
22:9 'Therefore go into
the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.'
22:10 "So those
servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found,
both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.
22:11 "But when the
king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a
wedding garment.
22:12 "So he said to
him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was
speechless.
22:13 "Then the king
said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into
outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
22:14 "For many are
called, but few are chosen."
22:15 Then the Pharisees
went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk.
22:16 And they sent to
Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that You
are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for
You do not regard the person of men.

22:1 Jesus again used parables
in talking to the people.
22:2 "The Kingdom of
heaven is like this. Once there was a king who prepared a wedding feast for his
son.
22:3 He sent his servants
to tell the invited guests to come to the feast, but they did not want to come.
22:4 So he sent other
servants with this message for the guests: "My feast is ready now; my
steers and prize calves have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to
the wedding feast!'
22:5 But the invited
guests paid no attention and went about their business: one went to his farm,
another to his store,
22:6 while others grabbed
the servants, beat them, and killed them.
22:7 The king was very
angry; so he sent his soldiers, who killed those murderers and burned down
their city.
22:8 Then he called his
servants and said to them, "My wedding feast is ready, but the people I
invited did not deserve it.
22:9 Now go to the main
streets and invite to the feast as many people as you find.'
22:10 So the servants
went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, good and
bad alike; and the wedding hall was filled with people.
22:11 "The king went
in to look at the guests and saw a man who was not wearing wedding clothes.
22:12 "Friend, how
did you get in here without wedding clothes?' the king asked him. But the man
said nothing.
22:13 Then the king told
the servants, "Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him outside in the
dark. There he will cry and gnash his teeth."'
22:14 And Jesus
concluded, "Many are invited, but few are chosen."
22:15 The Pharisees went
off and made a plan to trap Jesus with questions.
22:16 Then they sent to
him some of their disciples and some members of Herod's party.
"Teacher," they said, "we know that you tell the truth. You
teach the truth about God's will for people, without worrying about what others
think, because you pay no attention to anyone's status.
