「聞くことの重要性」

7章16-34

7:16 あなたはこの民のために祈ってはならない。彼らのために嘆きと祈りの声をあげてわたしを煩わすな。わたしはあなたに耳を傾けない。

7:17 ユダの町々、エルサレムの巷で彼らがどのようなことをしているか、あなたには見えないのか。

7:18 子らは薪を集め、父は火を燃やし、女たちは粉を練り、天の女王のために献げ物の菓子を作り、異教の神々に献げ物のぶどう酒を注いで、わたしを怒らせている。

7:19 彼らはわたしを怒らせているのか――と主は言われる――むしろ、自らの恥によって自らを怒らせているのではないか。

7:20 それゆえ、主なる神はこう言われる。見よ、わたしの怒りと／憤りが、この所で、人間、家畜、野の木、地の実りに注がれる。それは燃え上がり、消えることはない。

7:21 イスラエルの神、万軍の主はこう言われる。お前たちの焼き尽くす献げ物の肉を、いけにえの肉に加えて食べるがよい。

7:22 わたしはお前たちの先祖をエジプトの地から導き出したとき、わたしは焼き尽くす献げ物やいけにえについて、語ったことも命じたこともない。

7:23 むしろ、わたしは次のことを彼らに命じた。「わたしの声に聞き従え。そうすれば、わたしはあなたたちの神となり、あなたたちはわたしの民となる。わたしが命じる道にのみ歩むならば、あなたたちは幸いを得る。」

7:24 しかし、彼らは聞き従わず、耳を傾けず、彼らのかたくなで悪い心のたくらみに従って歩み、わたしに背を向け、顔を向けなかった。

7:25 お前たちの先祖がエジプトの地から出たその日から、今日に至るまで、わたしの僕である預言者らを、常に繰り返しお前たちに遣わした。

7:26 それでも、わたしに聞き従わず、耳を傾けず、かえって、うなじを固くし、先祖よりも悪い者となった。

7:27 あなたが彼らにこれらすべての言葉を語っても、彼らはあなたに聞き従わず、呼びかけても答えないであろう。

7:28 それゆえあなたは彼らに言うがよい。「これは、その神、主の声に聞き従わず、懲らしめを受け入れず、その口から真実が失われ、断たれている民だ。」

7:29 「お前の長い髪を切り、それを捨てよ。裸の山々で哀歌をうたえ。主を怒らせたこの世代を／主は退け、見捨てられた。」

7:30 まことに、ユダの人々はわたしの目の前で悪を行った、と主は言われる。わたしの名によって呼ばれるこの神殿に、彼らは憎むべき物を置いてこれを汚した。

7:31 彼らはベン・ヒノムの谷にトフェトの聖なる高台を築いて息子、娘を火で焼いた。このようなことをわたしは命じたこともなく、心に思い浮かべたこともない。

7:32 それゆえ、見よ、もはやトフェトとかベン・ヒノムの谷とか呼ばれることなく、殺戮の谷と呼ばれる日が来る、と主は言われる。そのとき、人々はもはや余地を残さぬまで、トフェトに人を葬る。

7:33 この民の死体は空の鳥、野の獣の餌食となる。それを追い払う者もない。

7:34 わたしはユダの町々とエルサレムの巷から、喜びの声と祝いの声、花婿の声と花嫁の声を絶つ。この地は廃虚となる。

7:16 "Therefore do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them, nor make intercession to Me; for I will not hear you.

7:17 "Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

7:18 "The children gather wood, the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.

7:19 "Do they provoke Me to anger?" says the Lord. "Do they not provoke themselves, to the shame of their own faces?"

7:20 Therefore thus says the Lord God: "Behold, My anger and My fury will be poured out on this place-on man and on beast, on the trees of the field and on the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and not be quenched."

7:21 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: "Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat meat.

7:22 "For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.

7:23 "But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.'

7:24 "Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

7:25 "Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.

7:26 "Yet they did not obey Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.

7:27 "Therefore you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not obey you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you.

7:28 "So you shall say to them, 'This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth.

7:29 'Cut off your hair and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the desolate heights; for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath.'

7:30 "For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight," says the Lord. "They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.

7:31 "And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.

7:32 "Therefore behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "when it will no more be called Tophet, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter; for they will bury in Tophet until there is no room.

7:33 "The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the heaven and for the beasts of the earth. And no one will frighten them away.

7:34 "Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. For the land shall be desolate.
