10章

新共同 エレ 10:1-25

10:1 イスラエルの家よ、主があなたたちに語られた言葉を聞け。

10:2 主はこう言われる。異国の民の道に倣うな。天に現れるしるしを恐れるな。それらを恐れるのは異国の民のすることだ。

10:3 もろもろの民が恐れるものは空しいもの／森から切り出された木片／木工がのみを振るって造ったもの。

10:4 金銀で飾られ／留め金をもって固定され、身動きもしない。

10:5 きゅうり畑のかかしのようで、口も利けず／歩けないので、運ばれて行く。そのようなものを恐れるな。彼らは災いをくだすことも／幸いをもたらすこともできない。

10:6 主よ、あなたに並ぶものはありません。あなたは大いなる方／御名には大いなる力があります。

10:7 諸国民の王なる主よ／あなたを恐れないものはありません。それはあなたにふさわしいことです。諸国民、諸王国の賢者の間でも／あなたに並ぶものはありません。

10:8 彼らは等しく無知で愚かです。木片にすぎない空しいものを戒めとしています。

10:9 それはタルシシュからもたらされた銀箔／ウファズの金、青や紫を衣として／木工や金細工人が造ったもの／いずれも、巧みな職人の造ったものです。

10:10 主は真理の神、命の神、永遠を支配する王。その怒りに大地は震え／その憤りに諸国の民は耐ええない。

10:11 このように彼らに言え。天と地を造らなかった神々は／地の上、天の下から滅び去る、と。

10:12 御力をもって大地を造り／知恵をもって世界を固く据え／英知をもって天を広げられた方。

10:13 主が御声を発せられると、天の大水はどよめく。地の果てから雨雲を湧き上がらせ／稲妻を放って雨を降らせ／風を倉から送り出される。

10:14 人は皆、愚かで知識に達しえない。金細工人は皆、偶像のゆえに辱められる。鋳て造った像は欺瞞にすぎず／霊を持っていない。

10:15 彼らは空しく、また嘲られるもの／裁きの時が来れば滅びてしまう。

10:16 ヤコブの分である神はこのような方ではない。万物の創造者であり／イスラエルはその方の嗣業の民である。その御名は万軍の主。

10:17 包囲されて座っている女よ／地からお前の荷物を集めよ。

10:18 主はこう言われる。見よ、今度こそ／わたしはこの地の住民を投げ出す。わたしは彼らを苦しめる／彼らが思い知るように。

10:19 ああ、災いだ。わたしは傷を負い／わたしの打ち傷は痛む。しかし、わたしは思った。「これはわたしの病／わたしはこれに耐えよう。」

10:20 わたしの天幕は略奪に遭い／天幕の綱はことごとく断ち切られ／息子らはわたしのもとから連れ去られて／ひとりもいなくなった。わたしの天幕を張ってくれる者も／その幕を広げてくれる者もいない。

10:21 群れを養う者は愚かになり／主を尋ね求めることをしない。それゆえ、彼らはよく見守ることをせず／群れはことごとく散らされる。

10:22 声がする。見よ、知らせが来る。北の国から大いなる地響きが聞こえる。それはユダの町々を荒廃させ／山犬の住みかとする。

10:23 主よ、わたしは知っています。人はその道を定めえず／歩みながら、足取りを確かめることもできません。

10:24 主よ、わたしを懲らしめてください／しかし、正しい裁きによって。怒りによらず／わたしが無に帰することのないように。

10:25 あなたの憤りを注いでください／あなたを知らない諸国民の上に。あなたの御名を呼ぶことのない諸民族の上に。彼らはヤコブを食い物にし／彼を食い尽くし／その住みかを荒廃させました。

ＴＥＶ エレ 10:1-25

10:1 People of Israel, listen to the message that the Lord has for you.

10:2 He says, /"Do not follow the ways of other nations; /do not be disturbed by unusual sights in the sky, /even though other nations are terrified.

10:3 The religion of these people is worthless. /A tree is cut down in the forest; /it is carved by the tools of the woodworker

10:4 and decorated with silver and gold. /It is fastened down with nails /to keep it from falling over.

10:5 Such idols are like scarecrows in a field of melons; /they cannot speak; /they have to be carried /because they cannot walk. /Do not be afraid of them: /they can cause you no harm, /and they can do you no good."

10:6 Lord, there is no one like you; /you are mighty, /and your name is great and powerful.

10:7 Who would not honor you, the king of all nations? /You deserve to be honored. /There is no one like you /among all the wise men of the nations /or among any of their kings.

10:8 All of them are stupid and foolish. /What can they learn from wooden idols?

10:9 Their idols are covered with silver from Spain /and with gold from Uphaz, /all the work of artists; /they are dressed in violet and purple cloth /woven by skilled weavers.

10:10 But you, Lord, are the true God, /you are the living God /and the eternal king. /When you are angry, the world trembles; /the nations cannot endure your anger.

10:11 (You people must tell them that the gods who did not make the earth and the sky will be destroyed. They will no longer exist anywhere on earth.)

10:12 The Lord made the earth by his power; /by his wisdom he created the world /and stretched out the heavens.

10:13 At his command the waters above the sky roar; /he brings clouds from the ends of the earth. /He makes lightning flash in the rain /and sends the wind from his storeroom.

10:14 At the sight of this, people feel stupid and senseless; /those who make idols are disillusioned, /because the gods they make are false and lifeless.

10:15 They are worthless and should be despised; /they will be destroyed when the Lord comes to deal with them.

10:16 The God of Jacob is not like them; /he is the one who made everything, /and he has chosen Israel to be his very own people. /The Lord Almighty is his name.

10:17 People of Jerusalem, you are under siege! Gather up your belongings.

10:18 The Lord is going to throw you out of this land; he is going to crush you until not one of you is left. The Lord has spoken.

10:19 The people of Jerusalem cried out, /"How badly we are hurt! /Our wounds will not heal. /And we thought this was something we could endure!

10:20 Our tents are ruined; /the ropes that held them have broken. /Our children have all gone away; /there is no one left to put up our tents again; /there is no one to hang their curtains."

10:21 I answered, "Our leaders are stupid; /they do not ask the Lord for guidance. /This is why they have failed, /and our people have been scattered.

10:22 Listen! News has come! /There is a great commotion in a nation to the north; /its army will turn the cities of Judah into a desert, /a place where jackals live."

10:23 Lord, I know that none of us are in charge of our own destiny; /none of us have control over our own life.

10:24 Correct your people, Lord, /but do not be too hard on us /or punish us when you are angry; /that would be the end of us.

10:25 Turn your anger on the nations that do not worship you /and on the people who reject you. /They have killed your people; /they have destroyed us completely /and left our country in ruins.
