「聞き従わない民」

11章

新共同 エレ 11:1-20

11:1 主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。

11:2 「この契約の言葉を聞け。それをユダの人、エルサレムの住民に告げよ。

11:3 彼らに向かって言え。イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる。この契約の言葉に聞き従わない者は呪われる。

11:4 これらの言葉はわたしがあなたたちの先祖を、鉄の炉であるエジプトの地から導き出したとき、命令として与えたものである。わたしは言った。わたしの声に聞き従い、あなたたちに命じるところをすべて行えば、あなたたちはわたしの民となり、わたしはあなたたちの神となる。

11:5 それは、わたしがあなたたちの先祖に誓った誓いを果たし、今日見るように、乳と蜜の流れる地を彼らに与えるためであった。」わたしは答えて言った。「アーメン、主よ」と。

11:6 主はわたしに言われた。「ユダの町々とエルサレムの通りで、これらの言葉をすべて呼ばわって言え。この契約の言葉を聞き、これを行え。

11:7 わたしは、あなたたちの先祖をエジプトの地から導き上ったとき、彼らに厳しく戒め、また今日に至るまで、繰り返し戒めて、わたしの声に聞き従え、と言ってきた。

11:8 しかし、彼らはわたしに耳を傾けず、聞き従わず、おのおのその悪い心のかたくなさのままに歩んだ。今、わたしは、この契約の言葉をことごとく彼らの上に臨ませる。それを行うことを命じたが、彼らが行わなかったからだ。」

11:9 主はわたしに言われた。「ユダの人とエルサレムの住民が共謀しているのが見える。

11:10 彼らは昔、先祖が犯した罪に戻り、わたしの言葉に聞き従うことを拒み、他の神々に従ってそれらを礼拝している。こうしてイスラエルの家とユダの家は、わたしが彼らの先祖と結んだ契約を破った。」

11:11 それゆえ、主はこう言われる。「見よ、わたしは彼らに災いをくだす。彼らはこれを逃れることはできない。わたしに助けを求めて叫んでも、わたしはそれを聞き入れない。

11:12 ユダの町々とエルサレムの住民は、彼らが香をたいていた神々のところに行って助けを求めるが、災いがふりかかるとき、神々は彼らを救うことができない。

11:13 ユダよ、お前の町の数ほど神々があり、お前たちはエルサレムの通りの数ほど、恥ずべきものへの祭壇とバアルに香をたくための祭壇を設けた。

11:14 あなたは、この民のために祈ってはならない。彼らのために嘆きと祈りの声をあげてはならない。災いのゆえに、彼らがわたしを呼び求めてもわたしは聞き入れない。」

11:15 わたしの家で／わたしの愛する者はどうなったのか。多くの者が悪だくみを行い／献げ物の肉を彼女から取り上げている。あなたに災いがふりかかるとき、むしろ喜べ。

11:16 主はあなたを、美しい実の豊かになる／緑のオリーブと呼ばれた。大いなる騒乱の物音がするとき／火がそれを包み、その枝を損なう。

11:17 あなたを植えられた万軍の主は、あなたについて災いを宣言される。それは、イスラエルの家とユダの家が悪を行い、バアルに香をたいてわたしを怒らせたからだ。

◆エレミヤの訴え

11:18 主が知らせてくださったので／わたしは知った。彼らが何をしているのか見せてくださった。

11:19 わたしは、飼いならされた小羊が／屠り場に引かれて行くように、何も知らなかった。彼らはわたしに対して悪だくみをしていた。「木をその実の盛りに滅ぼし／生ける者の地から絶とう。彼の名が再び口にされることはない。」

11:20 万軍の主よ／人のはらわたと心を究め／正義をもって裁かれる主よ。わたしに見させてください／あなたが彼らに復讐されるのを。わたしは訴えをあなたに打ち明け／お任せします。

ＴＥＶ エレ 11:1-20

11:1 The Lord said to me,

11:2 "Listen to the terms of the covenant. Tell the people of Judah and of Jerusalem

11:3 that I, the Lord God of Israel, have placed a curse on everyone who does not obey the terms of this covenant.

11:4 It is the covenant I made with their ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, the land that was like a blazing furnace to them. I told them to obey me and to do everything that I had commanded. I told them that if they obeyed, they would be my people and I would be their God.

11:5 Then I would keep the promise I made to their ancestors that I would give them the rich and fertile land which they now have." /I said, "Yes, Lord."

11:6 Then the Lord said to me, "Go to the cities of Judah and to the streets of Jerusalem. Proclaim my message there and tell the people to listen to the terms of the covenant and to obey them.

11:7 When I brought their ancestors out of Egypt, I solemnly warned them to obey me, and I have kept on warning the people until this day.

11:8 But they did not listen or obey. Instead, everyone continued to be as stubborn and evil as ever. I had commanded them to keep the covenant, but they refused. So I brought on them all the punishments described in it."

11:9 Then the Lord said to me, "The people of Judah and of Jerusalem are plotting against me.

11:10 They have gone back to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to do what I said; they have worshiped other gods. Both Israel and Judah have broken the covenant that I made with their ancestors.

11:11 So now I, the Lord, warn them that I am going to bring destruction on them, and they will not escape. And when they cry out to me for help, I will not listen to them.

11:12 Then the people of Judah and of Jerusalem will go to the gods to whom they offer sacrifices and will cry out to them for help. But those gods will not be able to save them when this destruction comes.

11:13 The people of Judah have as many gods as they have cities, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem have set up as many altars for sacrifices to that disgusting god Baal as there are streets in the city.

11:14 Jeremiah, don't pray to me or plead with me on behalf of these people. When they are in trouble and call to me for help, I will not listen to them."

11:15 The Lord says, "The people I love are doing evil things. What right do they have to be in my Temple? Do they think they can prevent disaster by making promises and by offering animal sacrifices? Will they then rejoice?

11:16 I once called them a leafy olive tree, full of beautiful fruit; but now, with a roar like thunder I will set its leaves on fire and break its branches.

11:17 "I, the Lord Almighty, planted Israel and Judah; but now I threaten them with disaster. They have brought this on themselves because they have done wrong; they have made me angry by offering sacrifices to Baal."

11:18 The Lord informed me of the plots that my enemies were making against me.

11:19 I was like a trusting lamb taken out to be killed, and I did not know that it was against me that they were planning evil things. They were saying, "Let's chop down the tree while it is still healthy; let's kill him so that no one will remember him any more."

11:20 Then I prayed, "Almighty Lord, you are a just judge; you test people's thoughts and feelings. I have placed my cause in your hands; so let me watch you take revenge on these people."
