19:15 いかなる犯罪であれ、およそ人の犯す罪について、一人の証人によって立証されることはない。二人ないし三人の証人の証言によって、その事は立証されねばならない。

19:16 不法な証人が立って、相手の不正を証言するときは、

19:17 係争中の両者は主の前に出、そのとき任に就いている祭司と裁判人の前に出ねばならない。

19:18 裁判人は詳しく調査し、もしその証人が偽証人であり、同胞に対して偽証したということになれば、

19:19 彼が同胞に対してたくらんだ事を彼自身に報い、あなたの中から悪を取り除かねばならない。

19:20 ほかの者たちは聞いて恐れを抱き、このような悪事をあなたの中で二度と繰り返すことはないであろう。

19:21 あなたは憐れみをかけてはならない。命には命、目には目、歯には歯、手には手、足には足を報いなければならない。

19:15 "One witness is not enough to convict someone of a crime; at least two witnesses are necessary to prove that someone is guilty.

19:16 If any of you try to harm another by false accusations,

19:17 both of you are to go to the one place of worship and be judged by the priests and judges who are then in office.

19:18 The judges will investigate the case thoroughly; and if you have made a false accusation,

19:19 you are to receive the punishment the accused would have received. In this way your nation will get rid of this evil.

19:20 Then everyone else will hear what happened; they will be afraid, and no one will ever again do such an evil thing.

19:21 In such cases show no mercy; the punishment is to be a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, and a foot for a foot.
