5:13 あなたがたは、地の塩である。もし塩のききめがなくなったら、何によってその味が取りもどされようか。もはや、なんの役にも立たず、ただ外に捨てられて、人々にふみつけられるだけである。
5:14 あなたがたは、世の光である。山の上にある町は隠れることができない。
5:15 また、あかりをつけて、それを枡の下におく者はいない。むしろ燭台の上において、家の中のすべてのものを照させるのである。
5:16 そのように、あなたがたの光を人々の前に輝かし、そして、人々があなたがたのよいおこないを見て、天にいますあなたがたの父をあがめるようにしなさい。

5:13 "You are the
salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
5:14 "You are the
light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
5:15 "Nor do they
light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light
to all who are in the house.
5:16 "Let your light
so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father
in heaven.

5:13 "You are like
salt for the whole human race. But if salt loses its saltiness, there is no way
to make it salty again. It has become worthless, so it is thrown out and people
trample on it.
5:14 "You are like
light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid.
5:15 No one lights a lamp
and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives
light for everyone in the house.
5:16 In the same way your
light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do
and praise your Father in heaven.
