17:24 彼らがカペナウムにきたとき、宮の納入金を集める人たちがペテロのところにきて言った、「あなたがたの先生は宮の納入金を納めないのか」。
17:25 ペテロは「納めておられます」と言った。そして彼が家にはいると、イエスから先に話しかけて言われた、「シモン、あなたはどう思うか。この世の王たちは税や貢をだれから取るのか。自分の子からか、それとも、ほかの人たちからか」。
17:26 ペテロが「ほかの人たちからです」と答えると、イエスは言われた、「それでは、子は納めなくてもよいわけである。
17:27 しかし、彼らをつまずかせないために、海に行って、つり針をたれなさい。そして最初につれた魚をとって、その口をあけると、銀貨一枚が見つかるであろう。それをとり出して、わたしとあなたのために納めなさい」。

17:24 When they had come
to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said,
"Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?"
17:25 He said,
"Yes." And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him,
saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth
take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?"
17:26 Peter said to Him,
"From strangers." Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are free.
17:27 "Nevertheless,
lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that
comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of
money; take that and give it to them for Me and you."

17:24 When Jesus and his
disciples came to Capernaum, the collectors of the Temple tax came to Peter and
asked, "Does your teacher pay the Temple tax?"
17:25 "Of
course," Peter answered. /When Peter went into the house, Jesus spoke up
first, "Simon, what is your opinion? Who pays duties or taxes to the kings
of this world? The citizens of the country or the foreigners?"
17:26 "The
foreigners," answered Peter. /"Well, then," replied Jesus,
"that means that the citizens don't have to pay.
17:27 But we don't want
to offend these people. So go to the lake and drop in a line. Pull up the first
fish you hook, and in its mouth you will find a coin worth enough for my Temple
tax and yours. Take it and pay them our taxes."
