24:45 「主人がその家の使用人たちの上に立てて、時間どおり彼らに食事を与えさせることにした忠実で賢い僕は、いったいだれであろうか。
24:46 主人が帰って来たとき、言われたとおりにしているのを見られる僕は幸いである。
24:47 はっきり言っておくが、主人は彼に全財産を管理させるにちがいない。
24:48 しかし、それが悪い僕で、主人は遅いと思い、
24:49 仲間を殴り始め、酒飲みどもと一緒に食べたり飲んだりしているとする。
24:50 もしそうなら、その僕の主人は予想しない日、思いがけない時に帰って来て、
24:51 彼を厳しく罰し、偽善者たちと同じ目に遭わせる。そこで泣きわめいて歯ぎしりするだろう。」

24:45 "Who then is a
faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to
give them food in due season?
24:46 "Blessed is
that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
24:47 "Assuredly, I
say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods.
24:48 "But if that
evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,'
24:49 "and begins to
beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,
24:50 "the master of
that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour
that he is not aware of,
24:51 "and will cut
him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be
weeping and gnashing of teeth.

24:45 "Who, then, is
a faithful and wise servant? It is the one that his master has placed in charge
of the other servants to give them their food at the proper time.
24:46 How happy that
servant is if his master finds him doing this when he comes home!
24:47 Indeed, I tell you,
the master will put that servant in charge of all his property.
24:48 But if he is a bad
servant, he will tell himself that his master will not come back for a long
time,
24:49 and he will begin
to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
24:50 Then that servant's
master will come back one day when the servant does not expect him and at a
time he does not know.
24:51 The master will cut
him in pieces and make him share the fate of the hypocrites. There he will cry
and gnash his teeth.
